Dave's Turbo NPR
Dave Kutz is a D.P. in Pennsylvania who
used his NPR to shoot TV commercials, industrials and point-of-purchase marketing
films. His "tricked out" NPR started out with the purchase of a Chroszeil
matte box and follow focus attachment (for which he had to machine the mount
himself). He then added a B&W video tap. Each of his magazines is fitted
with an Anton Bauer style, quick release battery bracket. The top "C" mount
has an Arri lens adaptor in place and a Littlite has been supplied to make
life easier for the A.C. in reading the focus wheel. It's a bit hard to see
in this photo, but Dave also thought up the idea of using a padded foam bicycle
grip (cut down a bit) to soften the blow of carrying a fully loaded camera
like this. Note also the Alcan 54 motor made by Aaton that helps reduce the
overall height of the camera by several inches.
